What is Kung Fu?
Kung Fu can be translated several ways but they all roughly mean 'skill and hard work'; the words Kung Fu can be applied to any activity that needs a lot of effort to attain a high degree of skill. When referring to the Martial Arts Kung Fu is the broad name given to all Chinese Martial Arts.
Why do Kung Fu?
One of the main purposes of Kung fu is obviously self-defence which, in the days that we live in, is sometimes unfortunately necessary, but the skill itself and the benefits go far beyond this. Kung Fu can help you to attain better strength, fitness and improved flexibility, but most importantly confidence in your self. Children also have all the same benefits that adults do, but also activities that use the whole body help increase learning skills and will help children to set and achieve goals.
Ulitmately the most important reason for doing Kung Fu is simple: because you want to!
Remember Kung Fu, like everything worthwhile in life, is not about the final destination it is not a race, it is about appreciating the journey for what it is and revelling in the experiencing of learning and improving.
Every journey starts with but a single step.
